One of Those Days
We’ve all woken up on the wrong side of the bed before.
A bad dream or a bad night of sleep can lead to a messy morning.
A messy morning can bleed into a rough commute to work.
Then, when you’re at work, you have a hard time parking your car.
Suddenly you're late, your boss is upset, you missed a meeting…. you see where I’m going with this...
Needless to say, bad days happen. Bad nights happen. Things happen in this life!
But that doesn’t mean that you can’t get yourself sorted out and be ready for the rest of the day.
You’ve heard me say it a million times before… energy is everything. And it’s true!
It’s easy to see that energy is everything, even just given the tiny sample of a situation provided above. If you don’t have your energy right, your outlook on the world will stay in flow of that low vibration, causing all kinds of things to happen that you really don’t want to experience.
From the Everyday to the Big Picture
On a micro level, getting your energy right is crucial for experiencing a day full of goodness.
How awesome is it when you’re having a great day, and then suddenly, someone pays for your coffee?
Or you’re in a great mood, so when obstacles do pop up, you offer grace and patience? Good energy goes a long way. Bad energy goes just as far.
Friends, keep in mind that the universe knows and responds to one word: “yes”.
If you’re having a bad day and you’re losing your wits in the midst of this bad day, feeding the fire, you’re going to get more of that terrible, awful experience. This is our human way of saying, “Yes universe! More please!”
We have to be mindful of the energy we’re saying “yes” to - and that is why getting your energy right is so important.
On a macro level, getting your energy together can make a difference in the way you see and experience your life. Making space for abundance and joy energetically lets the universe know that this high vibration is what you’re putting out and what you’d like to get back.
People who have mastered their energy and the power of positivity, see the results of their energy in their lifestyle. These are the folks that live in joy and purpose, participating in their partnership with the universe using ‘yes’ as their north star. The right energy is the vehicle of all things abundance.
How to Begin to Get Your Energy 'Right'
So, how do you do it? There are several ways to get your energy right, but first, you’ve got to quiet down the mind and focus.
There is no better way to get yourself together energetically than meditating and becoming mindful of the present. Research has found that humans are lost in their thoughts for 44% of the day.
This means our brains are firing off at random, thinking of things that happened yesterday or what’s to come tomorrow. Very little of that time is spent on the now.
When we’re focused on another time outside of the present, emotions flood in. Emotions like shame, guilt, anxiety or just stress all together. So let go of all that.
Today is a new day, and we’re here now - so why not make the best of it?
- Close your eyes and breathe in for a count of six, and release your breath for a count of 6. Do this for three breaths. Really quiet down your mind.
Now ask yourself, what are you grateful for today? Focus on the little things. Your cup of coffee this morning? The car that takes you to and from wherever it is you’re going? The roof over your head?
Really sink your teeth into the emotion of gratitude. Feel it in your bones. Let it bring a smile to your face.
- Next, ask yourself: What do you want this day to be like? What are the experiences you’d like to have? Who are the people you’d like to see, and even further, what are the feelings you’d like to experience around those people?
- Moving forward, set your expectation. Will you be so centered in your good energy that nothing can knock you out of it? As you go about your day, notice thoughts that don’t feel good. Acknowledge them and send them on their way. Offer forgiveness for the harsh thoughts of self judgement. Let them go and bring in new ideas and good thoughts.
We all have problems in our lives, but we all have wonderful things going on in our lives as well. Focus on the good, and focus on what we all have: the present.
